Dear Mom & Charlie:

Received 300 cigarettes from you a few days ago, thanks a lot.

I wish you would quit worrying about me getting out of the army. I got into it without any help and I will get myself [out] when ever my turn comes. I won't be home this year that is a sure thing as my division isn't slated to go home till next Feb.

Everyone in Canada seems to forget that the Cdns had a whole army over here not ten men and that we can't all go home at once. We all want to but wanting don't get us home. I don't think the end of Japan means anything as far as us going home goes. Just keep sending those cigs and never mind what other people say, when the army says we aren't going home this year they mean just that, us guys are getting so fed up with everything it ain't funny and getting letters from home accusing us of wanting us to stay over here sure don't help any.

How is Bill's baby getting on now. I sure will be glad when I get home and can see everyone again.

There isn't much more I can say for now so I will close.

Your Son

Bob.

P.S. I know all what's coming to me so stop your worrying. I am not still 15.
